ISLAMABAD: The Indian ministry of external affairs in New Delhi has maintained contact with the High Commission of Pakistan.

Saad Ahmad, a senior officer of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is working as acting high commissioner. Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and India have not been severed. Both countries have reduced the number of diplomats to a minimum. The process of returning diplomats, who have been asked to return from New Delhi, is underway, while Indian diplomats are also leaving Pakistan.

A senior official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi told Jang/The News, ““You can judge for yourself the conditions under which we are fulfilling our responsibilities. We avoid going to the market for essential items and rely on online supplies.”

There has been no change in the routine of Indian diplomats in Islamabad. Three days ago, the Indian ambassador attended a diplomatic function wearing a beautiful silk saree, accompanied by her well-dressed counsellor. Pakistan and India will not need the services of any third country for messaging; they can use their High Commissions for the purpose, if necessary.
