Islamabad:The capital city is reeling with shock and grief following the brutal murder of two women — a mother and daughter — within the jurisdiction of Lohi Bher Police Station on April 5, 2025. In a swift response, Islamabad police announced the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, identified as Sadaqat, offering a measure of relief amidst the tragedy.
A joint operation by Lohi Bher Police and the Homicide Unit led to Sadaqat’s apprehension within hours of the crime. While details remain limited, police confirmed that the victims were killed with a sharp weapon, and a third woman was injured in the same attack.
The horrific nature of the incident drew immediate condemnation from senior officials. DIG Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, took prompt notice and issued urgent directives for the suspect’s arrest. Under the supervision of SP Sawan Zone, Parigal Tareen, a dedicated police team launched an intensive investigation, employing modern forensic and technical tools to track down the alleged killer. The use of advanced investigative techniques played a crucial role in the swift identification and capture of the suspect.
In a related development, Islamabad police have successfully arrested several suspects in other high-profile murder cases, reflecting the department’s ongoing efforts to combat violent crime. In the case of Hamza Khan’s disappearance and murder, police arrested three suspects — Syed Arif Hussain, Syed Sabir Hussain Shah, and Saqlain. The victim’s elder brother reported him missing on March 15, 2025. Through the analysis of call data records (CDR), investigators traced his last known location to Mansehra. The accused later confessed to killing Hamza at their home in Chinyal and burying his body in the courtyard, which was subsequently recovered. The suspects are now in custody, facing serious charges.
Meanwhile, in the murder of social worker Ishtiaq Ahmed Abbasi in the Pandorian area on April 9, 2025, police arrested four suspects: Amir alias Amri, Riaz Chadhar, Amir alias Mandri, and Zulfiqar. Special teams conducted multiple raids across different districts, using modern technology and intelligence gathering to detain the alleged culprits. Investigations are ongoing.
DIG Islamabad highlighted the police’s resolve to eliminate crime, noting that strategic planning and consistent operations have led to a 20% drop in crime rates this year. He also emphasized the force’s successful operations against drug traffickers and illegal arms dealers.
So far, 117 suspects have been arrested for illegal arms possession, with recoveries including Kalashnikovs, rifles, pistols, and large quantities of ammunition. Separately, 171 suspected drug dealers have been apprehended, with seizures of heroin, hashish, ice, opium, and alcohol. “Our commitment to the safety of Islamabad’s citizens remains firm,” stated DIG Tariq Jawad. “We are enforcing strict security measures, including enhanced checkpoints and zero tolerance for illegal activities.”
He further announced that officers demonstrating outstanding performance would be promoted to key positions, while those failing to meet professional standards would face departmental action. Fifteen officers were dismissed last week for involvement in illegal activities. The DIG also urged citizens and the media to continue supporting the police in their mission to maintain law and order.
