Tourists throng KPCTA’s information desk in Derajat Festival
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A large number of tourists and visitors thronged the information desk set up by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) and the Department of Archaeology and Museums at the ongoing Derajat Festival in Dera Ismail Khan to obtain information about the tourist attractions in the province.
Besides providing information and assisting tourists and visitors, the KPCTA is also arranging guided historical tours for the tourists to the Kafirkot temples and Rehman Dheri archaeological sites on April 12 and 13, for which registration is currently open.
At the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information desk, Deputy Manager Saeed Khan was providing tourism-related details, while at the archaeology desk, Assistant Curator Mehran Ashraf was offering valuable information about historical sites.
Visitors were being informed about the tourist attractions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, current projects, initiatives being undertaken in these areas, and upcoming plans. The tourism desk is also displaying 3D maps of Malakand and Hazara divisions along with distributing various informational brochures.
The Department of Archaeology is registering tourists for historic heritage sites, including Kafirkot temples. These are ancient Hindu temples, known as Kafirkot North and South, believed to be around 2,000 years old. These temples are located within two different forts, approximately 35 kilometers apart.Similarly, Rehman Dheri is one of the oldest known urban settlements in South Asia, located in Dera Ismail Khan, dating back to between 3300 BCE and 1900 BCE.
