Power crisis hits Makran division as Iran suspends electricity supply
Once Iran resumes transmission, normal operations are expected to return across affected areas
QUETTA: A major power outage has struck Balochistan’s Makran Division after Iranian authorities suspended the electricity supply from both 132kV transmission lines. As a result, several grid stations across the region are currently without power.
According to a spokesperson for the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), the affected grid stations include 132kV Mand, Tump, Turbat, Hoshab, Panjgur, Jiwani, Gwadar Door, Gwadar Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni and Ormara.
The QESCO spokesperson confirmed that efforts are underway, with officials maintaining close contact with their Iranian counterparts to ensure an expedited restoration of the power supply. Once Iran resumes transmission, normal operations are expected to return across the affected areas. QESCO has issued an apology to the residents of Makran division for the inconvenience and has appealed for public cooperation during this difficult period.
The company acknowledged the hardships being faced by consumers in the region and assured that all measures are being taken to resolve the crisis as swiftly as possible.
