Concern shown on change in net metering policy
Islamabad:Member Central Core Committee United Business Group (FPCCI) and Chairman of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, has expressed deep concern over the possible changes in the net metering solarisation policy by the government, says a press release.
He stated that this move could prove harmful to Pakistan’s export sector. He expressed these views today while addressing an Iftar dinner hosted at his residence in honour of prominent figures from the business community.
Later, during a discussion with the President of All Pakistan Traders Association, President of Aabpara Market Islamabad, General Secretary Akhtar Abbasi, President of F-10 Markaz Ahmed Khan, Chairman Tahir Abbasi, and others, Ahsan Bakhtawari urged the government to maintain this policy for at least 14 years to protect exporters from uncertainty.
Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that Pakistan’s exporters are already facing serious challenges such as rising production costs, expensive electricity, and international competition. He mentioned that many industrialists have made significant investments in solar energy infrastructure to reduce energy costs and maintain exports at global standards. Any negative change in the net metering policy will not only increase business costs but also affect Pakistan’s export competitiveness.
