Three fraudsters held for exploiting patients at LGH, PINS
LAHORE : The administration of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS) undertook coordinated initiative and caught three suspects involved in deceitful activities in the hospital.
The suspects identified as Sarfraz, Ahmed, and Ihsan were operating from a private store located outside the hospital and targeting individuals from remote areas. They exploited the patients by promising immediate medical tests and charging them more than the government prescribed fees. Multiple complaints were received from patients at both hospitals including one case in which a female patient specifically identified such persons involved in illegal activities.
In response, the hospital administration devised a strategy to interrogate the suspects which led to their apparent involvement. Dr Faryad Hussain, MS of General Hospital, and Dr Umar Ishaq, MS of PINS, immediately notified the hospital's police post, leading to the swift arrest of all three culprits.
Police have registered a case on complaint of Dr Adnan Khalid, DMS Admin, at PINS and an investigation has been initiated.
The heads of both hospitals, Principal LGH Prof Al-Fareed Zafar and ED PINS Prof Asif Bashir emphasised in a joint statement said that any staff member found involved in fraudulent or deceitful activities will face strict legal action. They urged all patients and their families to avoid contacting strangers for medical treatment or diagnostic tests. Patients were advised to directly contact the MS or on-duty DMS to ensure they are receiving free health services in accordance with Punjab government policies as the hospital administration is committed to providing transparent and quality healthcare services to every patient, they concluded.
