‘Azadi March’ case: PTI’s Faisal Javed, Wasiq Qayyum file acquittal pleas
PTI leaders appear in court along with their lawyers and filed acquittal petitions
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Faisal Javed Khan and Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi filed acquittal petitions on Thursday in an ‘Azadi March’ case registered at Industrial Area police station.
The case is under trial in the court of Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra. During the hearing, both PTI leaders appeared in the court along with their lawyers Sardar Shusheed Khan and Zahid Bashir Dar and filed the acquittal petitions.
Sardar Shusheed advocate said there is no evidence against Faisal Javed Khan, as one accused has been acquitted and another discharged, pleading to the court to accept the acquittal petition.
The judge said his client’s case and that of the acquitted accused are different. He told Faisal Javed Khan that many arrest warrants have been issued against him. To which Faisal Javed Khan said, “I had a flight for Umrah but my name was put on the ECL.” The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 20.
