Lawyers’ welfare CM’s priority, says minister
LAHORE:Provincial Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth met with Advocate General Punjab, Muhammad Amjad Pervez, at the Punjab Law Department.
Punjab Law Secretary Asif Bilal Lodhi was also present. During the discussion, professional matters were discussed. Provincial Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth stated that the government’s position in ongoing court cases should be presented effectively. He also mentioned that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is working for the welfare of the lawyer community. Special grants are being provided to bars across the province. Advocate General Punjab Amjad Pervez thanked the Punjab government for his appointment and stated that he would play his part in further strengthening the legal system.
Minister for boosting industrialisation
A delegation led by the President of Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Waleed Ahmad, met with the Provincial Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain here on Friday.
The meeting, held in the committee room of the Department of Industries & Commerce, focused on the industrialisation of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Rahim Yar Khan and various industry-related issues. Discussions were held on the causes of the slow pace of industrialisation in the SEZ and suggestions to accelerate the process. Emphasis was placed on the need for an extensive marketing campaign to boost industrial activity in the Special Economic Zone. It was also decided to approach the Aviation Authority to make Rahim Yar Khan Airport fully operational, facilitating industrial growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain announced the establishment of a Business Facilitation Centre in Rahim Yar Khan. He emphasised that investors from the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East would be invited to invest in the SEZ. The Chamber of Commerce was urged to provide feasible proposals for the development of the Special Economic Zone. Shafay Hussain further stated that, in collaboration with the Chamber, efforts would be made to colonise the 456-acre Special Economic Zone in Rahim Yar Khan. In accordance with policy guidelines, plots allocated for industrial units that fail to establish operations will be cancelled.
The meeting was attended by Chairman PIEDMC Javed Iqbal, Secretary of Industries & Commerce Umar Masood, MD PSIC ,Senior Economic Advisor, and other officers concerned.
