PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, visited the under-construction Peshawar Bus Terminal on Wednesday to assess the project’s progress.
He was accompanied by provincial cabinet members Arshad Ayub Khan, Rangiz Ahmad, and Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, along with senior officials from the Local Government Department and the Peshawar Development Authority.
Officials briefed the chief minister, stating that 75percent of the construction work has been completed, with the remaining expected to be finished by June. The terminal, spanning 323 kanals, is being developed at a cost of Rs 3.67 billion and will feature modern amenities, including a mosque, parking facilities, rest areas, washrooms, a solar power system, and CCTV surveillance for security.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the new bus terminal would be a state-of-the-art facility aimed at easing traffic congestion in Peshawar. He instructed authorities to ensure the project’s timely completion.
Earlier, the chief minister visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority (KPUMA) office, where he chaired the 18th Board of Directors meeting. The meeting reviewed the implementation of previous board decisions and focused on ensuring the sustainable operation and financial self-reliance of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
