Moazzam Butt alleges corruption in KP’s legal affairs
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former general secretary of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, Moazzam Butt, on Saturday raised concerns over the security situation and external interference in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terming it the most sensitive province in the country.
He claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House had been taken hostage, which he described as unacceptable.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, he said the state, government, judiciary, and public must all function under the Constitution and the law. He criticized the advocate general Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,
alleging that the individual holding the position
lacked the necessary competence and was biased against PTI.
He alleged that assistant advocate generals were being forced to pay extortion money amounting to Rs10,000 each, while appointments in the Advocate General’s Office were being made in exchange for bribes. He accused certain officials of using the PTI founder’s name to intimidate people and for illicit financial gains.
Moazzam Butt claimed that court cases were being compromised, corruption was rampant, and even the committee meant to eliminate corruption was itself questionable.
He raised concerns over a young girl, Mashal Yousafzai, receiving official privileges. He questioned whether the Chief Minister of the province was Ali Amin Gandapur or the President of the Insaf Lawyers Forum.
He criticized the judiciary, questioning whether judges would focus on delivering justice for the public or fighting their own legal battles.
He alleged that PTI leadership never accepted the 26th Amendment and accused them of filing cases in courts merely for media headlines, only to withdraw them later.
