Literary museum of Pakistani languages opens at PAL
Islamabad : The inauguration ceremony of the ‘Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages’ organised by the Pakistan Academy of Letters was held on Friday at the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad, says a press release.
The chief guest of the ceremony, Hassan Nasir Jami, Federal Secretary National Heritage and Culture Division, formally inaugurated the Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages.
President Nishin Academy Dr. Najiba Arif delivered the welcome remarks.
UNESCO Special Representative Jawad Aziz also addressed the ceremony. The ceremony was moderated by Mehboob Zafar.
Hassan Nasir Jami, Federal Secretary National Heritage and Culture Division, in his address said that the Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages, is a very important and unique project in its nature, which I am proud and happy to inaugurate.
He said that undoubtedly, we are proud of our rich civilization and culture.
He said that we are committed to the survival and continuity of endangered languages. We will continue to work closely with the Academy.
Hassan Nasir Jami congratulated the President of Nishin Academy, Dr. Najiba Arif, and the entire team of the Academy on completing the project of the Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages.
He also praised the Academy’s first ten-day inter-provincial residency project.
Dr. Najiba Arif, President of Nishin Academy, while delivering the welcome address, said that the Museum of Pakistani Languages is a unique and rare project, which reflects and expresses the richness of Pakistan’s cultural and historical heritage and our linguistic diversity.
This linguistic diversity is undoubtedly our strength, not our weakness. It is the expression of the continuity of our centuries-old civilization and tradition. This linguistic diversity is a testament to the antiquity, civilizational evolution, and mental and intellectual tradition of our region.
The Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages is the guardian and custodian of the relics of 74 languages spoken across the length and breadth of Pakistan.
This is the joint result of a meeting of linguistic experts in research and knowledge. Most of the esteemed members of this meeting are here,
I thank them all. Dr. Najiba Arif said that some manuscripts of Pakistani languages have also been preserved in this museum, but this is just the beginning, God willing, with the help of the government, we will make this museum even more useful, interesting, informative and visible.
Dr. Najiba Arif especially thanked Hassan Nasir Jami, Federal Secretary, National Heritage and Culture Division, for his full cooperation in establishing the museum.
