Two kidnapped cops recovered in South Waziristan
WANA: Two police personnel, who were kidnapped from the Zangara area of Ladha Tehsil in Upper South Waziristan on February 4, have been safely rescued.Officials said that a large-scale operation was launched and a blockade was enforced throughout the area to ensure their recovery.
District Police Officer (DPO), Upper South Waziristan, Arshad Khan said the two police personnel, Asadullah Khan and Alam Sher, were kidnapped on February 4. Upon receiving information about the incident, he said, the police and security forces immediately cordoned off the area, making it difficult for the kidnappers to move the hostages.
He said a search operation was launched, restricting all possible routes for the kidnappers to transfer the abductees to another location. “The intense pressure from security forces forced the kidnappers to release the two officers without any harm,” he added.
The DPO emphasized that ensuring the safe recovery of the kidnapped policemen was the top priority. The well-coordinated efforts of the police and security forces played a crucial role in securing their release without any casualties, he added.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of martyred police constable, Sadiq Khan, was offered at Police Lines Wana. A large number of police personnel, including DPO Asif Bahadur Khan and Commandant SWS Muhammad Tahir Khan, attended the funeral.
The body was then sent to his native village, Shakai, under heavy security for burial. Constable Sadiq Khan had embraced martyrdom when the militant attacked the police station on Saturday night.
