JI demands recovery of missing elder, nephew
PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) activists from Khyber tribal district on Thursday established a protest camp to demand recovery of a tribal elder and his nephew.
The protest camp was established outside the Peshawar Press Club to demand the recovery of Haji Najeebullah Afridi, and his nephew Muhammad Rafiq Afridi, who have been ‘missing’ for the last 11 years.
Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber district chief Shah Faisal Afridi, Khan Wali Afridi, and other party leaders said Haji Najeebullah Afridi and his nephew were summoned to the office of the political agent 11 years ago and there was no clue to their whereabouts since then.He claimed that their family, relatives, and friends have been waiting anxiously for their return since then.
“Those who abducted them neither respect the Constitution of Pakistan nor the law, traditions, or local customs,” he said. The family has suffered immensely during this prolonged ordeal. He said that Muhammad Rafiq’s mother had passed away while waiting for her son’s return, and younger children in the family have grown up without seeing their loved ones.
The protesters demanded the immediate release of Haji Najeebullah Afridi and Muhammad Rafiq Afridi. “We will be compelled to intensify the protest If our demands are not met,” said one of the protesters.
