The Sindh police have been doing their best to locate and recover journalist Fayyaz Solangi, who went missing a few days ago and was reportedly kidnapped by armed dacoits in the lawless riverine area of Sindh.
According to a spokesman for the Sindh government, Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani, the provincial government has already been thoroughly probing the incident. The provincial authorities have been constantly in touch with the family members of the journalist since the unfolding of the tragedy.
Upon a request from the Sindh police, the family members have lodged an FIR. The lodging of the FIR was delayed because the family ruled out personal and tribal enmities as the possible motives behind the kidnapping of the journalist.
The spokesman said a special police team had been formed to ensure the early and safe release of the journalist. Sindh Senior Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon and Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar have been supervising the investigation and recovery efforts in this connection.
He said the Sindh government would ensure the earliest recovery of the journalist and bring to book the culprits behind the incident.
Sindh Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Sardar Abdul Raheem condemned the Sindh government for its utter failure to prevent incidents of kidnappings for ransom in the province. He said the natives of Sindh were forced to spend sleepless nights due to unabated incidents of kidnapping for ransom.
