Edhi Foundation releases annual performance report
LAHORE: Edhi Foundation Lahore Wednesday released its 2024 performance report highlighting its extensive humanitarian efforts across the region.
The report reveals that the organisation provided ambulance services to 123,962 patients and deceased individuals. According to the Edhi spokesperson, the foundation transported 942 deceased victims of various accidents to different locations free of charge. Additionally, 3,872 injured individuals were shifted to hospitals, while 92,352 patients were transported between homes and hospitals.
The foundation also transferred 31,610 deceased individuals from hospitals to their homes. For unclaimed bodies, Edhi Foundation arranged the burial of 579 individuals, while 498 were given ritual bathing and shrouding at Edhi mortuaries.
Under its biometric identification programme, the foundation identified 620 bodies found across the city, handing over 465 of them to their families. Furthermore, Edhi's Bilquis Edhi Home in Lahore reunited 1,823 out of 2,364 individuals with their families through its ambulance services.
The Edhi Free Dispensary provided medical assistance and medicines to 76,388 patients, while the Edhi Free Kitchen served meals to 254,865 people. The spokesperson urged the public to report emergencies promptly by calling the Edhi Emergency Helpline at 115. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to serving humanity without discrimination.
