Husband replaces wife as CTO
LAHORE : DIG Athar Waheed was appointed as Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) on Saturday.
DIG Athar is the husband of outgoing CTO Ammara Athar, adding a unique dimension to the transition. His appointment has also led to the upgrade of the CTO position to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
This is the second time the post has been held by an officer of DIG rank, with the late Capt (retd) Syed Ahmad Mobeen also serving in the same capacity previously.
The move is expected to strengthen traffic regulation and enforcement mechanisms in Lahore, one of the country’s busiest urban centres.
Meanwhile, after a prolonged wait for his posting, DIG Shariq Kamal has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Logistics and Procurement.
According to a notification issued by the Chief Secretary, DIG Shariq Kamal will now oversee logistics and procurement operations for the police department. His appointment comes after an extended period of awaiting a posting.
