PSL 10 players’ draft on January 11
LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially unveiled the date for its players’ draft for the milestone 10th edition, set to take place on January 11, 2025. The announcement was made through a 26-second promotional video shared on the league’s social media channels, captioned, “The countdown begins.”
As preparations for the upcoming season ramp up, sources have confirmed that a crucial meeting is scheduled for later this week. The agenda will address several pivotal aspects, including:
The registration process for domestic and international players is expected to begin soon. Franchises have proposed hosting the draft abroad, suggesting England or Dubai as potential locations to boost the league’s global profile.
And teams are advocating for the inclusion of marquee international players, particularly those overlooked in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reassured franchise representatives of its commitment to enhancing the league’s appeal by securing top-tier international talent.
The board has also promised financial assistance to help franchises acquire high-profile players. Another key discussion point has been the participation of English players in the league. Franchises have urged the PCB to coordinate with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to ensure the availability of English cricketers for the tournament.
The 10th edition of the PSL is expected to set new benchmarks for the league, with plans to expand its global reach and attract a larger audience. By focusing on high-caliber international talent and exploring overseas venues for key events, PSL aims to reinforce its position as one of the premier T20 leagues in the world, said a franchise official.
He further added that as the countdown to January 11 begins, they are eagerly anticipating the announcements of star-studded lineups and the exciting cricketing action that PSL 2025 promises to deliver.
