SSGC dominates Tour of Islamabad cycling event

KARACHI: SSGC clinched team classification title and top three spots in the men’s professional category at the 6th edition of the Tour of Islamabad the other day.

More than 90 cyclists from across Pakistan and beyond competed in this 3-day premier event organized by Islamabad Cycling Association and Pakistan Cycling Federation. The final and the longest stage, held in B-17 and Faisal Hills, covered 120 km and was won by Ali Ilyas of SSGC with a thumping lead.

In the men’s professional category, M Yousaf from SSGC secured first position with the timing of 6:15:16 and Ali Ilyas from SSGC took second position with the timing of 6:18:41 while Rizwan from SSGC grabbed third position with the timing of 6:22:15.

In the men’s 40 plus category, Wazir Muhammad from Crank Addicts secured first place with the timing of 6:48:48 and Pablo Samper from Islamabad Pro took second position with the timing of 7:35:05 while Hamza Niazi from Islamabad Amateurs grabbed third position with the timing of 8:20:09.

In the men’s 50 plus category, Khalid Perviz from Rohtas Cycling Jhelum secured first position with the timing of 6:57:34 and Rehan Hyder from Islamabad took second position with the timing of 7:13:44 while Ali Gulfraz from Islamabad grabbed third position with the timing of 7:18:07.

Atif Mustafa, CEO of Cloud Services, and Azhar Ali Shah, President of the Cycling Federation, graced the prize distribution and closing ceremony as chief guests. “We commend the cyclists for their outstanding performances.

The Tour of Islamabad 2024 once again demonstrated the spirit of endurance and camaraderie, cementing its place as a flagship event for cycling in the country,” said Secretary PCF M Haroon while talking to ‘The News’.
