Court decisions should match Shariah: CII
He was addressing a training workshop of judges, being held under the aegis of Shariah Academy
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Raghib Hussain Naeemi has emphasized that court decisions relating to marriage and cancellation of marriage be taken according to the Shariah.
He was addressing a training workshop of judges, being held under the aegis of Shariah Academy. The under-training judges accompanied by Director Shariah Academy Attaullah Khilji visited the CII office on Friday.
Naeemi said punishment awarded for entering second marriage without permission of the Reconciliation Council was against the Shariah. The CII is an “Ijtehadi” institution which sends recommendations to legislative institutions on matters like marriage and cancellation of marriage, etc. He pointed out that the number of divorces in the country could reduce with the award of punishment on three divorces at a time. Calling for speedy justice, he said influential and wealthy people and politicians got justice in a short time. Judges should be appointed on the basis of ability.
