CS tells home department to implement public safety law
Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah chaired a meeting on Friday focused on strengthening surveillance, law and order, and public safety.
Officials reported that the government had decided to launch a crackdown on tinted windows, the display of arms, and fake number plates. He led the high-level meeting to review law and order concerns and discuss strategies to enhance public safety across the province.
Critical issues addressed included the proliferation of fake number plates, unauthorised tinted vehicle glasses, and the display of arms, with a strong emphasis on curbing these illegal activities to improve overall public security.
During the session, the chief secretary directed the home department to formulate a comprehensive communication strategy aimed at raising public awareness and ensuring compliance with law and order regulations. This strategic plan would engage the public and provide essential guidelines to promote lawful conduct and foster community safety.
Additionally, the chief secretary underscored the importance of vigilant neighborhood surveillance, instructing officials to develop an expanded system for monitoring activities within local communities. The meeting proposed the establishment of local community watch groups under the supervision of assistant commissioners, along with members of all security agencies, to help identify suspicious activities and improve coordination with law enforcement.
Key officials in attendance included the additional chief secretary for home, the ACS for local government, Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, additional IG Karachi, and representatives from the Rangers. Divisional commissioners participated via video link, providing valuable insights on maintaining a cohesive approach to safety and law enforcement efforts in Sindh.
Shah reiterated the Sindh government's commitment to upholding law and order, urging all departments to actively collaborate in addressing these pressing issues and ensuring a secure environment for all citizens.
