Joint efforts to curb smog stressed
LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique participated as a special guest in the awareness seminar on ‘Smog and our health’ organised at Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Rushda Lodhi, Parliamentary Secretary Environment Kanwal Parvez, FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr. Shahid Latif, faculty members and students attended the event.
Under the leadership of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, an awareness walk was also organised to reduce environmental pollution. Khawaja Salman Rafique, Parliamentary Secretaries Rushda Lodhi, Kanwal Pervez and Prof Khalid Masood Gondal also started the planting campaign by planting saplings.
The minister while addressing the seminar stressed on joint role to reduce environmental pollution. Elimination of environmental pollution has almost become a challenge. All institutions have to work together to eliminate smog.
It is the responsibility of all of us to improve the quality index of country. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken sustainable steps to eliminate environmental pollution. The Punjab government has introduced climate change policy for the first time.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Rushda Lodhi said the challenge of environmental pollution has become a war. Parliamentary Secretary Environment Kanwal Pervez said that the CM’s mission is to clean the environment. Action is being taken against kilns not using zigzag technology. There will be no compromise on public health.
MoU signed on hospital’s revamp
An agreement was reached between the University of Child Health Sciences and Islamic Aid for the construction, revamping and other projects of colleges.
Vice Chancellor Prof Masood Sadiq, Chairman Islamic Aid Mahmud ul Hasan, MD Children's Hospital Prof Tipu Sultan and other faculty members were present in the ceremony. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Mehmoodul Hasan exchanged the memorandum of agreement. Vice-Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Masood Sadiq said that under the agreement, colleges, emergency block revamping and a daycare centre would be constructed.
