ISLAMABAD: Several amendments to the Civil Servants Act 1973 are being made to give a financial package to employees affected by the federal government’s right-sizing.
According to sources, the Establishment Division would forward the proposal to the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC). A new definition would be added to Section 2 which is related to giving financial package to the affected employees.
It would be named Severance Package through a notification of compensation from the Finance Division. A provision would be added that the federal government is offering a financial package to the civil servants concerned. It would be a balanced package that would take into account both the rights of civil servants and responsibilities of the federal government.Another clause will be added under which the civil servants will have the right of presentation against the financial package given to them. This presentation will be submitted to a committee within seven days. The committee would be named by the prime minister. The committee will give a decision on the presentation within 30 days.
If a civil servant does not accept this package, he can be dismissed. The Institutional Reforms Cell of Cabinet Division has directed the Establishment Division to implement the proposal. The cabinet has already approved it.
