Public holiday in Pindi today
Rawalpindi:The local administration, Rawalpindi has announced a public holiday today (Monday) keeping in connection with Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain.
All government offices, educational institutions, both public and private, will remain closed today, according to the notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema on Sunday. The notification states that the holiday would be applicable to all schools and colleges in the Cantonment, City, Saddar, and District Rawalpindi areas. But emergency services and relevant departments will be exempted from this order.
Almost 4,400 police officials and 215 traffic police officials will perform duties on the occasion in Rawalpindi. According to the administration, the routes leading towards the procession site will be blocked from Sunday night. Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education postponed the matriculation exam on August 26.
