Sabra Tufail assumes presidency of Floral Art Society of Pakistan Gardenia Chapter
The Floral Art Society of Pakistan Gardenia Chapter, Karachi, held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday in a grand reception.
The general meeting's title was ‘Timeliness Intertwined’, in which the outgoing president of the Gardenia Chapter, Qurrat ul ain Aamir, welcomed the incoming president, Sabra Tufail. A new executive committee was also set up at the meeting. There were floral art displays, a floral demonstration, and a fashion competition in which the Gardenia Chapter’s members participated.
The theme of the fashion competition was a white dress with a coloured dupatta. After the end of the fashion competition, prizes were awarded to three winning participants, who were chosen by a jury within the Gardenia Chapter.
The outgoing president said that she was filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. “It has been an incredible honour to serve as president over the past year. A year that has been a testament to what can be achieved,” she said, adding that she was immensely proud of what the Gardenia Chapter had achieved.
She said their achievements would not have been possible without the remarkable hard work of her committee. “To each one of you, I extend my heartfelt thanks. You have not only been my colleagues but also my friends and confidants,” she said. She also thanked the senior members of the Gardenia Chapter for their support and guidance.
She passed on the mantle of leadership to Tufail, saying that the future of the Gardenia Chapter was in capable hands. The energy and vision of the new president, she said, were exactly what the chapter needed.
Tufail said they would plan engaging programmes, training sessions, and workshops under the guidance of senior members. Her board of directors for the year 2024-25 includes vice president Fahmida Hashmi, secretary Naheed Abid, chairperson of show and programme Kosar Suleman; chairperson media and publicity Nadia Balana, chairperson magazine and publication Sofia Javed and committee Members Farah Jafri, Haleema Afzal and Saima Saleem.
