PARCO performance close to 100pc in June: official
Monthly throughput is a strong measure to gauge the performance of any refinery
ISLAMABAD: For Pak-Arab Refinery Company (PARCO), June 2024 has been a historic month marked by the highest-ever sales of MOGAS of 141,000 MT and Diesel of 243,000 MT. More importantly, in another milestone, the Karachi-Mehmood Kot (KMK) pipeline touched the highest single-day throughput of 17,179 MT.
“Not only this we had a phenomenal refinery throughput that is close to 100 percent in June, 2024 and these accomplishments are a true reflection of our collective efforts and resolve,” PARCO’s Managing Director told The News. “Further, in the last five months, PARCO has performed exceptionally well especially with refinery utilization in 90s, and even in April when there was extraordinary cross-border diesel inflow we still performed at 82% despite all negatives. It was way better than last April when we performed 62pc due to smuggling and economic crisis”
Monthly throughput is a strong measure to gauge the performance of any refinery. PARCO accounts for almost 50 of the operating refinery capacity of the country. “We are leading the industry and recovering from last year’s glut faced and returning back to growth-oriented business.” The data shows that the annual utilization of PARCO stood at 88 percent in 2023-24 as compared to 78 percent in 2022-23 showing growth in utilization by 10 percent. In June in FY24 the PARCO throughput was registered at 99 percent as compared to 67 percent in FY23 showing a 32 percent increase.
In June of FY24, the throughput of Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) stayed at 78 percent, Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) at 72 percent, NRL (National Refinery Limited) at 40 percent and Cnergyico Pk Ltd (CPL) at 17 percent. However, in 2023-2024, the throughput of ARL remained at 79 percent, Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) at 71 percent, National Refinery Limited at 39 percent and Cnergyico Pk Ltd (CPL) at just 7 percent. The annual utilization of the ARL in 2023-24 was registered at 73 percent, followed by ARL at 68 percent, NRL at 48 percent and CPL 15 percent.
