Unidentified suspects booked for DSP Ali Raza’s murder
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officer DSP Ali Raza’s murder case was registered at the CTD police station on Tuesday. The complaint filed by Azizabad SHO Imran Khan Afridi includes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
According to the police, suspects allegedly associated with a banned militant outfit shot and martyred DSP Raza and a security guard of the Shakeel Corporation, namely Waqar Ali. The incident had occurred on Sunday night in Karimabad, which falls within the jurisdiction of the Azizabad police station.
The initial investigation shows the involvement of two motorcyclists. The investigation teams have obtained significant information regarding the suspects’ arrival and departure routes.
SHO Afridi claimed in the FIR that DSP Raza was martyred by two or more unidentified suspects allegedly associated with a banned terrorist outfit. He said they acted in consultation with and on the plan and instructions of an unknown mastermind and other accomplices.
The officer said DSP Raza was targeted due to his actions against various ethnic organisations, banned militant organisations, banned separatist outfits, and other criminal elements during his departmental service.
He pointed out that the aim of the suspects was to promote terrorism in the country, demoralise the law enforcement agencies, and instil fear and terror among the public.
“People informed us that DSP Ali Raza was killed and security guard Waqar Ali was injured. A team was called, and evidence was collected from the scene, which included 12 spent 9mm casings, two blood samples in the form of swab sticks, a blue cap, and three spent bullets. All evidence has been preserved.”
According to the FIR, the security guard also succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The investigators found that DSP Raza had arrived at the Shakeel Corporation’s gate in his vehicle. After parking his vehicle, he was walking through the gate when two or more motorcyclists opened fire at him.
Earlier, CTD officials investigating the case had suspected the involvement of a banned militant outfit in the incident, saying that they believed that it could be a joint plan of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the sectarian outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
