Islamabad: At the 67th session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) in Vienna, Muhammad Yousuf Khan, Chairman of the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the peaceful use of outer space.
He underscored that outer space is a shared heritage of humanity, advocating for its equitable and non-discriminatory accessibility. SUPARCO chairman highlighted Pakistan's recent achievements in space technology, including the successful launches of the iCUBE-Qamar satellite and the Pakistan Multi-Mission Communication Satellite, PakSat-MM1, in May.
He also announced Pakistan's ambitious plans for a rover mission to the lunar South Pole, in collaboration with China's Chang’E-8 Mission. Furthermore, SUPARCO chairman participated in the Lunar Conference hosted by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) on June 18. There, he elaborated on Pakistan's dedication to lunar exploration and its commitment to fostering international cooperation in space research.
