Harassment of ATC judge: LHC CJ announces reserved verdict in suo motu case

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan announced the reserved decision in a suo moto case of harassment of a judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha allegedly by a sensitive agency. The court issued notices to RPO Sargodha, Regional Officer CTD and others. While issuing the show cause notices for contempt of court, the court ordered RPO Sargodha, Regional Officer CTD, DSP and SHO to give explanations by June 27. The court ordered to fix the case in Justice Shahid Karim’s court during the next hearing. The court also ordered the letters of ATC judge to be sent to the Supreme Court bench.

The ATC judge had written a letter to the LHC against alleged harassment by an agency and firing outside the court. He wrote that after he refused to meet the agency’s official, the gas meter outside his house was broken and he was sent a heavy electricity bill.

He claimed that on the day of May 9 case hearing, the police blocked the roads leading to the court and shots were fired at the transformer outside the court.
