Minister orders Nadra to block SIMs on invalid, expired ID cards

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) on Wednesday to block mobile SIMs issued on invalid and expired identity cards.
During his visit to all sections of the Nadra headquarters, the minister instructed the authorities to establish Nadra offices across the country on the model of police stations established in Punjab. He emphasized that setting up model Nadra offices would enhance service delivery and provide convenience to the public.
Nadra Chairman Muhammad Munir Afsar welcomed Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi upon his arrival at the Nadra headquarters. During the meeting, the minister ordered waiver of fees for death certificates for convenience of public. He also ordered to ensure complete security of citizens’ data. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of providing more facilities on mobile platforms for the convenience of people and effective use of social media to promote the institution’s ini. The chairman briefed the minister on plans for upgrading Nadra technology and infrastructur.
