Ramazan night tournaments revitalise youth spirit in Waziristan

WANA: Night sports tournaments are being organised across Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts in Ramazan in a display of community spirit and youth engagement.

These events, featuring football and volleyball matches, have reinvigorated the spirits of local youth while promoting healthy activities in the region.Supported by the Sports Department, the tournaments being held in Tanai, Spin, Chaghmalai and other areas have attracted participants from various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The active involvement of youth from Waziristan sends a powerful message of peace and resilience, dispelling the shadows of unrest that once loomed over the region.Reflecting on the transformation, local citizens reminisced about the tumultuous past two decades when the mere act of venturing out after sunset was fraught with danger. However, the emergence of sports fields now symbolizes a newfound sense of security and optimism in Waziristan, signifying a transition toward peace and stability. Players participating in the tournaments have expressed dedication not only to sports but also to fostering harmony and well-being within their communities.

They say their active engagement in healthy activities serves as a testament to the peaceful aspirations of Waziristan’s youth.The District Sports Officer of South Waziristan, Noor Ullah, lauded the efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate in promoting sports among the youth of Waziristan. He emphasised the importance of sports in building a healthy society and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to establishing sports infrastructure across the region.
