LAHORE: Punjab Youth Affairs Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar Wednesday said that all possible measures would be taken for the betterment of woman athletes through Punjab Sports Endowment Fund.
Talking to female players of power lifting and hockey at the National Hockey Stadium, the minister said the participation of female athletes in sports activities definitely highlighted the country’s soft and positive image.
International power lifting athletes Sybil Sohail and Twinkle Sohail and RAWHA Hockey Academy official Sehrish Ghumman briefed the minister on their challenges and problems.
The minister said doors of his office are open for all male and female players of the province and all-out efforts would be made to promote woman athletes through Punjab Sports Endowment Fund. Khokhar said there is immense sports talent in the country and women have an important role in this connection. He acknowledged Twinkle sisters’ achievements in the country and abroad, saying playing a tough sport like power lifting is definitely a matter of pride especially for female players. The minister said Sehrish Ghumman is promoting hockey among women of the province.
