Planning ministry sets course for economic revival with 5Es framework
This decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Minister Iqbal and attended by key officials
ISLAMABAD: The planning ministry announced Thursday its proactive approach towards implementing the 5Es framework, a comprehensive strategy designed to propel Pakistan towards sustained growth.
Under the guidance of Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, a one-day consultative workshop will be convened at the ministry within the next 10 days to expedite the implementation process.
This decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Minister Iqbal and attended by key officials, including the secretary of the planning ministry. The minister instructed stakeholders to engage top experts from diverse fields in the workshop to gather valuable insights before framework implementation.
The 5Es framework revolves around five crucial pillars: exports, E-Pakistan, environment and climate change, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment.
Approved by the National Economic Council (NEC) last June, this framework signifies a significant step forward in Pakistan’s journey towards sustainable economic growth.
Addressing the pressing issue of inherited debt, Minister Ahsan Iqbal acknowledged the challenge posed by previous administrations but expressed confidence in the government’s ability to navigate towards economic stability.
During the meeting, he stressed the importance of adopting innovative financing mechanisms, especially given Pakistan’s economic constraints. He underscored the pivotal role of sectors like agriculture, industry, and services, alongside technological advancements, in Pakistan’s transformation into a $100 billion export-oriented economy within the next seven to eight years.
Moreover, he emphasised the need for forward-looking planning, integrating modern infrastructure and digital technology, which are pivotal in shaping today’s era.
