Collaboration with Pakistan vital, says Ethiopian envoy
LAHORE : Ambassador Jamal Bakar Abdullah of Ethiopia has emphasised the need for collaboration between Pakistan and Ethiopia to address environmental challenges.
Acknowledging Ethiopia's reputation as a nation of runners, he proposed sports diplomacy initiatives such as coaching Pakistani youth in cricket and Ethiopian youth in running.
In recognition of International Women's Day, Ambassador Abdullah paid tribute to the empowerment and strength of women worldwide, highlighting Maryam Nawaz's appointment as Chief Minister of Punjab as a testament to the progress of Pakistani women. He commended Ethiopian Airlines for its exceptional service, announcing plans to expand operations to Islamabad and Lahore after Ramadan. These remarks were made during the Meet the Press programme at the Lahore Press Club Saturday, where Ambassador Abdullah was warmly received by President Arshad Ansari, Senior Vice President Shiraz Hasnat, Vice President AmjadUsmani, and other members of the governing body.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him, Ambassador Abdullah invited Pakistani businesses to invest in Ethiopia, promising to facilitate cooperation and explore avenues for improved trade relations, including considerations for export tax concessions and visa policies.
