Art & Fashion Festival ends with colourful events: Students, visitors enjoy cultural, traditional activities in gleeful gala

SWABI: The three-day spectacular Art and Fashion Festival concluded at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology here on Wednesday.

Organised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPTCA) and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), the event was attended by faculty members, students and a large number of visitors.

The exhibition titled ‘Irtiqa’ (art revolution) was aimed at presenting the culture of the province to the outside world through calligraphy, art and paintings, while providing a proper platform to the young artists to display their artwork and get recognised.

Over 100 art pieces of different categories, including paintings, calligraphy, craft and sculptures prepared by the students were displayed at the exhibition. The young students, both male and female, also participated in various events including theatre dramas, art exhibitions, painting competitions, landscape painting, calligraphy, fashion show and a lot more. The theatre dramas themed on different topics and cultures were well received. The students played different characters in the dramas and received thunderous applause from the audience.

A fashion show, and cultural paintings on T-Shirts competitions were other features of the colourful gala. The models attired in different cultural and traditional colourful dresses displayed a catwalk on the ramp.

The students hailed the KPCTA efforts for arranging such activities and said that the event had helped broaden their vision about culture and traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a distinctive rich history, which should be showcased through organizing such events. The participants said that it was an exuberant and gleeful event, which celebrated art in different spectrums.They said it was the best opportunity for them to interact with each other and learn about the culture, traditions, scenic places and other aspects of life of the people and the province.
