PESHAWAR: The Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has banned the use of mobile phones in classrooms at educational institutions.
A formal notification was issued to this effect on Monday. According to the notification, all education officers at the district level were directed to ensure a strict ban on the use of cellphones by the teaching, non-teaching staff and students during school timings. It was stated that the use of telephones was having adverse effects on the studies of the students.
The heads of the educational institutions were directed to collect mobile phones from all the employees in the early hours, which should be handed over to them after school timing. In case of emergency, the employees can use the landline or the telephone of the head of the institution, the notification stated. If stated no photo should be taken or any video filmed in the schools without the permission of the competent authority.
