Death anniversary of Musa Khankhel observed

MINGORA: The 15th death anniversary of Musa Khankhel, correspondent of The News and Geo News and, was observed here at the Swat Press Club on Sunday.Journalists, writers and elders paid glowing tributes to the slain journalist. Unidentified persons had shot dead Musa Khankhel in Matta tehsil on February 18, 2009, where he had gone for coverage of a rally led by late Maulana Sufi Muhammad, the head of proscribed Tanzim Nifaz-e-Shariat in Swat district.

Malakand Union of Journalists’ president Shahzad Alam, Swat Chamber of Commerce former president Yousaf Ali Khan, Essa Khankhel, brother of the slain journalist, Swat Press Club finance secretary Shafiullah and others spoke on the occasion.

The speakers regretted that neither any progress was made in the case of the slain journalist to arrest his killers nor any pledge honoured made with the victim family.They said that Musa Khankhel was a brave journalist, who sacrificed his life but did not compromise on principles.

They said that despite threats, he never compromised on his principles and devotion.Essa Khankhel thanked all the participants and said that he was grateful to all who participated in the death anniversary programme and paid tributes to his late brother.
