Governor lauds PPSC chairman’s services
LAHORE:Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Malik Zafar Iqbal paid a farewell call on Punjab Governor M Baligh ur Rehman at Governor’s House on Monday.
Secretary Punjab Public Service Commission Afzal Chaudhry was also present on this occasion. Governor Punjab congratulated Malik Zafar Iqbal on completing his three-year tenure successfully and appreciated his performance as Punjab Public Service Commission Chairman.
During the meeting, PPSC Chairman presented the annual report of Punjab Service Commission 2023 to the Punjab Governor. Speaking on this occasion, Governor Punjab said that supremacy of merit is vital to the stability of institutions and good governance in the country.
He said that the Punjab Public Service Commission is an esteemed institution that is playing a key role in selecting qualified and competent candidates on merit for government jobs. Governor Punjab further said that there is a need to take steps to increase the efficiency and bring improvements in the institution. He underlined the need to promote information technology in the institution.
PPSC chairman informed the governor about the reforms made to improve the institution. He said that for the first time in the history of PPSC, grade four employees have been recruited on merit through written examination and interview. He said that the procedure of a computerised testing system has been devised in the Punjab Public Service Commission, and its trial will be started soon.
