Anniversary of Bacha Khan varsity attack marked
CHARSADDA: The eighth anniversary of the Bacha Khan University tragedy was observed to remember the students and staff who lost their lives in the incident.
Prof Dr Zahid Hussain, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, paid tribute to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the memorial. The event included salutation from the contingent of the FC.
On the occasion, the vice-chancellor, faculty, university staff, and students recited the verses of the Holy Quran and prayed for the martyrs. Prof Dr Zahid Hussain stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain. He said their sacrifices had enabled others to breathe in a peaceful atmosphere.
He said the students laid down their lives in the pursuit of education. On January 20, 2016, 14 students and four staff members, including an assistant professor, were martyred, while 21 individuals were injured in a terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University.
