The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) are two sides of the same coin when it comes to policies against Karachi and its people.

Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said this while addressing a press conference held at the Idara Noor-e-Haq on Thursday. He also announced holding the Gaza Bike Rally on November 26 from the mausoleum of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to Teen Talwar Chowrangi in Karachi.

Talking about the political scenario in the country, particularly Karachi, he said the MQM-P and PPP had been ruining Karachi for the past three-and-a-half decades.

He added that the recent alliance between the Muttahida and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was also against Karachi and its residents. He asked those in the corridors of power involved in the politics of manipulation to have some mercy on the people of Karachi and let democracy prevail in the country. “Don't impose anyone on the Karachiites, let the people decide for themselves and ensure crystal clear fair elections,” Rehman said.

He was of the view that the people of Karachi had already rejected the facilitators of the K-Electric and mafias. He said the JI had emerged as the single largest party of the city with a significant majority of popular votes.

The JI leader expressed grave concerns over general elections in the presence of political governors. He also alleged that the PPP and PML-N had silently supported Israel by failing to have activism for the people of Palestine.
