The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has demolished five illegal subsoil water hydrants, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
It said the action was taken during a drive against illegal water hydrants and heavy machinery had also been impounded.
In compliance with the directive of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the KWSB had earlier demolished the subsoil water hydrants in the city, but they had been set up again illegally, the statement added.
Following their construction, the department came into action and demolished five illegal subsoil water hydrants.
“These hydrants were supplying substandard water to Baldia Town and adjoining localities.”
KWSB Managing-Director Misbahuddin Farid had set up an especial squad for taking an action against subsoil water hydrants, it added. The KWSB statement also appealed to the people to extend assistance in the drive against illegal water hydrants.
