Model turned actor, Umar Butt stands out amongst the present league of young artists. This tall and handsome young man from Lahore started his modelling career in 2014, when ace photographer Khawar Riaz noticed his unconventional looks and decided to give him his first break. Later, a stream of shoots with designers Deepak Perwani, Amir Adnan, Deepak & Fahad, HSY and brands like Élan, J., Nishat Linen, Gul Ahmed and many more, he successfully propelled his career ahead and registered himself as a mainstream model. Umar walked the ramp for PFDC 2015 to 2017 and many other fashion shows. His performance in music videos of Fiza Ali’s ‘Din Chaar’, Nabeel Shah’s ‘Pulekha’ and Roma Khan’s ‘Ik Ik Shey Channa’ showcase his acting skills. With serials such as ‘Maan’ and ‘Naagin Aik Kahani’, he transitioned into acting and has more to offer on that front with upcoming projects. What would you consider as your most valuable asset?
Unconditional support of my parents and friends that helped me inculcate positive attitude and confidence in my personality and life.
Your worst nightmare:
Losing my loved ones.
Your definition of love is:
Love is about growing together. Being a pillar of support for each other, caring and being respectful towards each other.
Your biggest strength:
My parent’s prayers, support and advice.
You feel blessed when:
I am around my family.
You wish you could:
Preserve the heritage of Lahore. Complete all the ongoing metropolis development projects and get it super clean.
Something you’re strongly possessive about:
Nothing in particular. Not about things and people but I’m more concerned about commitments and moments that I share with others.
How do you cheer yourself up?
I get up, take a shower, groom myself, wear nice clothes and this gives me a burst of positivity.
Your get turned on by:
Good music makes me go high.
You are afraid of:
I get scared of extreme height and I have a phobia of open sea and the darkness it holds under deep water!
If you could be another person who would you like to be:
I would like to be my father.
Your teenage crush:
There had been many from Bella Hadid to Aishwarya Rai and Zara Sheikh.
Something you like about yourself:
I try to avoid speaking lies, and always attempt to be as honest as I possibly can.
What annoys you the most?
Liars. I can take bitter truth upfront but I can’t stand lies.
What touches you the most?
Movies offering good quotient of emotional, sentimental and moral content like ‘Pursuit of Happyness’ and ‘Dangal’.
Do you have any regrets?
Not really. I feel that everything happens for a purpose or a reason.
How do you unwind?
Self-care rejuvenates me.
One person you would like to dine out with;
Kisi apnay kay sath. Some one I love and know. Not fond of having it with any top celebrity or someone totally stranger.
You like girls who are:
I’m a bit old school. I like girl who are tall, confident, and sensitive and carry themselves with elegance.
The biggest misconception about you;
That I am stiff, harsh and outspoken but I am actually an immensely soft person.
How do you vent your anger?
Mild and massive run-ins in the industry are nothing new or peculiar but I avoid lashing out and keep myself under control as much as I possibly can.
