Art works are not being printed regularly, and I like to see original works of young Pakistani artists on the back cover. Rest is fine....

Feedback

Dear Editor,

In this week’s edition (July 24), the cover story, ‘In conversation by Aamina Hashmi’ by Tooba Ghani was really cool. The art work accompanying the story was so impressive and beautiful! I should also praise the cover story of the last week (17 July), ‘The distressing lives of waste collectors’ by Ahmad Hassan Nadeem, was on a very serious and important issue. It is heart breaking to see little kids who ought to be in school sifting through trash to make money. Ed, my favourite writer Saniyyah Eman has not written a story for some time. And, as an old reader I miss the time when stories in Us were aplenty. Art works are not being printed regularly, and I like to see original works of young Pakistani artists on the back cover. Rest is fine.

Hi Ed,

I think we are over worst of Corona virus so may I respectfully request you to stop dosing us with covid 19 related articles? Seriously, Ed, I don’t mean to offend anyone and fell very sad and sorry for all those who have been affected with it. But I think I need to breathe! I feel suffocated because that’s all people are talking about everywhere. We can’t defeat it by becoming paranoid and depressed, so let’s try to act normal. We can take simple measure like make it a conscious effort to remain cheerful. Smile often and eat well. You can do your bit by increasing the pages of Comic Relief. Oh, and I like this week’s cover story ‘In conversation with Aamina Hashmi’. I like gardening, not the looking after the plants part, but the appreciation one. You will agree plants need appreciation, too. Oh, and Sarah Manzar’s summer lily flower (July 17) was beautifully painted.

Reflection

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Allah’s Apostle offered four Rakat of Zuhr prayer at Medina and we were in his company, and two Rakat of the Asr prayer at Dhul-Hulaifa and then passed the night there till it was dawn; then he rode, and when he reached Al-Baida’, he praised and glorified Allah and said Takbir (i.e. Alhamdu-lillah and Subhanallah(1) and Allahu-Akbar). Then he and the people along with him recited Talbiya with the intention of performing Hajj and Umra. When we reached (Mecca) he ordered us to finish the lhram (after performing the Umra) (only those who had no Hadi (animal for sacrifice) with them were asked to do so) till the day of Tarwiya that is 8th Dhul-Hijja when they assumed Ihram for Hajj. The Prophet sacrificed many camels (slaughtering them) with his own hands while standing. While Allah’s Apostle was in Medina he sacrificed two horned rams black and white in color in the Name of Allah.”
