John Abraham has managed to prove critics wrong by producing offbeat, intelligent films like Vicky Donor and Madras Café. But the hunky movie star, like friend Akshay Kumar, believes in finding a balance between commercial and parallel cinema.  These days, Abraham has returned to the Bollywood spotlight with upcoming film Rocky Handsome and has openly confessed that the film is an out and out commercial venture. “Rocky Handsome is commercially a very safe film. It’s a far safer film to push the envelope from films like Madras Cafe and Vicky Donor, which were very tough. I am concerned about what the audience wants... I will continue doing that,’’ John told IANS.

Having survived in the fickle world of Bollywood without any familial ties, John’s growth as an actor and producer has made him smarter about picking roles. “I want to put my knowledge and education to use and that’s how I segment my audience,” John told IANS.

Rocky Handsome also reunites Abraham with Force director Nishikant Kamat. “We wanted to do a film long ago. I am sure Nishikant is doing films with other actors, but I think we will run back to each other very soon again. We just work so well... we are on auto pilot! He doesn’t have to brief me too much and he is a credible director. The actor is as good or bad as his director. And Nishikant is a fantastic director,” concluded John.
