First Impression
Centrally located within the bustling commercial area of Mehmood Kasuri Road in Gulberg, the store is sandwiched between eateries and its imposing façade presents a welcome change to the bland scenery outside. An interesting wrought iron gate leads up a sleek marble walkway to the store entrance, dominated by classic French windows. It’s a fashionable exterior that will definitely appeal to the style-conscious.
Ambience
Walk inside the cool confines of the boutique to be greeted by an air of calm. What immediately strikes one is the clutter-free serenity of the place. The racks are divided in a way as to give the shopper ample room to walk around freely while browsing the displays (nothing hampers the shopping experience more than a crowded space!). The use of mirrors to decorate not only the walls but also as an elegant decorative feature beneath the racks lends the outlet a spacious feel. Describing the philosophy behind the interior, Misha explained, “Yousaf Shahbaz of Strata has created a space that perfectly encapsulates the philosophy of the brand. Classical elements, both indigenous and European, blend seamlessly alongside a strong Art Deco aesthetic. The eclecticism is fresh and effortless.”
What’s on offer
Housing the brand’s pret, luxury pret and bridal lines, the available stock is a complete reflection of the designer’s edgy yet elegant reinterpretation of traditional silhouettes and techniques. Here you’ll find Misha’s unique take on saris as glam evening wear in her pleated and draped sari skirts as well as sari tops. The muslin and cotton tunics as well as the draped jackets will appeal to the minimalist in you, and offer a look that can easily be taken from day to night wear with the addition of a few accessories. We were disappointed to see that Misha’s popular Iznik collection was represented by only a couple of pieces. Hopefully, we will get to see a wider variety of stock once the shop is functioning smoothly, this being only the second day after its launch.
The formal line consists of delicately embellished Kashmiri kurtas, silk tunics and short, flowy tunics with a boho-chic appeal. The designer’s PLBW collection Wanderlust is also on display and is a must-see if you’re looking to stand out this shaadi season.
Price
The brand is known for its exclusivity and hence comes at a price. The pret pieces, even those in plain fabric with just a hint of embellishment, come with a cool price tag of around PKR 10,000, whereas the Western pieces are close to the PKR 20,000 mark. Bottom line: This is not a shop you pop into to pick up a few pieces to wear to work; this is something you save up to invest in for the immaculate overall experience.
