Scheduled to release on Eidul Azha this year, the film looks promising with an ensemble cast and interesting cameos
Asim Raza’s second film, Parey Hut Love that stars Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar in lead roles is scheduled to release on Eid ul Azha 2019, alongside three other local films including Kaaf Kangana, Superstar and Heer Maan Ja. The film’s trailer was recently launched at a star studded event in Karachi with almost the entire cast and crew in attendance, besides industry insiders as well as media.
The trailer is cut really well; it reflects a complex storyline with multiple subplots without giving away too much. Sheheryar essays the role of a young, aspiring actor in search of roles. He meets Maya at a wedding and ends up falling for her. However, she is already engaged and upon learning that, Sheheryar loses his cool. The film follows the life of multiple other couples as well, essayed by Zara Noor Abbas and Ahmed Ali Butt, Rachel Viccaji and Faheem Azam, and Jimmy Khan and Parisheh James, among others.
The ensemble cast also includes veterans such as Nadeem Baig, Hina Dilpazeer, Munawar Siddiqui, Frieha Altaf, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, in addition to high-profile cameos by Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Meera Ji and Sonya Jehan. Though less in time-limit but there are interesting sequences featuring these actors that will probably make the film a treat to watch.
The trailer looks beautiful; the treatment is grand, the shots are commendable while the wardrobe is classy. However, when it comes to acting, the film falls flat; Sheheryar’s expressions are off while Maya’s face is blank in most of the scenes. On the other hand, Mahira Khan looks stunning in a dance number she is featured in which overshadows everyone else in the film. Zara Noor Abbas is the surprise package while Ahmed Ali Butt adds the funny bit; Faheem and Rachel share great onscreen chemistry whereas Parisheh impresses with her looks and attitude.
Written by Imran Aslam and directed by Asim Raza, the film holds high expectations, particularly after the release of the trailer that packs quite a punch. Those in attendance included celebrities Mawra Hocane, Yasir Hussain, Farhan Saeed, Urwa Hocane and Adeel Hussain, all of whom praised the effort. Of course, half of them were associated with the film while the rest were filmmaker Asim Raza’s friends (as the director put it while addressing the audience).
Speaking to Instep on the sidelines of the trailer launch, Nadeem Baig, who stars in the film, shared, “Asim [Raza] has put in a lot of effort in directing this project; he has paid close attention to details. The entire team, including the technicians as well as the artists, everyone has given their best.
Films should be made with the same dedication and concentration. Parey Hut Love is about different relationships knitted together, though the title says otherwise, it is loaded with love and people will love it.”
