Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor to screen at the South Asian International Film Festival

It was last month that animated film, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, won the Prestigious Monolith Award for content at the Infinity Film Festival, held at Beverly Hills, California. Now the film, which released earlier this year and is written and directed by Uzair Zaheer Khan, has been officially selected for screening at the15th Annual South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in New York.

The festival that commenced on December 12 will run till December 16, 2018 and Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor will be screened tomorrow (December 15). The animated production follows the story of Allahyar, a young and mischievous boy who ends up dealing with difficult circumstances in the northern mountains of Pakistan and how he meets Mehru, the markhor. In a series of events, Allahyar tries to save Mehru from the hunters and is rewarded with the ability to speak to animals. The movie aims to highlight themes of preservation and respect for wildlife.

The SAIFF is the largest film premiere destination for South Asian/Indian filmmakers in the United States.
