This year’s first Pakistani release, Parchi may have generated mixed reviews from critics but box office numbers speak otherwise. Released last week on January 5, the film has raked in almost 3 crores in its opening weekend. With Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan and Usman Mukhtar in lead roles, Parchi is an action comedy with hints of love and romance.

Box Office Detail reports that the film earned 90 lacs on Friday, 1.1cr on Saturday and 90 lacs on Sunday, reaching a total of 2.9cr by the end of its opening weekend. If we include the amount it collected on Monday, 40lacs, then Parchi has earned 3.3cr so far.

According to Ali Zain of Box Office Detail, “Parchi has lived up to expectations as numbers reached 2.9cr approximately in its opening weekend. The film opened on a very good note on Friday, followed by solid growth on Saturday while it held well on Sunday with numbers almost similar to Friday. Places where figures fell on Sunday had opened stronger on Friday.”

Parchi has performed exceptionally well in Rawalpindi/Islamabad where numbers are equivalent to big releases. If we compare the figures with Chupan Chupai that falls under a similar genre, Parchi leads the game with opening numbers more than the former’s total business till now.

While it is great to see a Pakistani film faring well at the box office, the coming days will decide if it manages to maintain the same. Nonetheless it hints at a good beginning for 2018 and we hope films that follow are able to rule the box office.
