Gearing up for a local release on September 15, the award winning Saawan is making headlines for all the right reasons, once again. Having won three international awards earlier this year, the critically acclaimed film just bagged another international award this month.

Saawan has been honoured with the award for Best Film and Best Soundtrack at the recently concluded Salento International Film Festival 2017 that ran from September 1 till September 10. Previously the film won two awards – for Best Film and Best Director – at the Social World Film Festival 2017 and was honoured with Best Foreign Language Feature trophy at the Madrid International Film Festival.

Directed by Farhan Alam, it tells the true story of a nine-year-old disabled child, essayed by child artist Syed Karam Hussain who has made his cinematic debut with this film.

Saawan talks about his struggle and survival against all odds. Shot in a Skardu and northern parts of Pakistan, it is about the journey of this child who initially faces rejection from his family and friends because of his disability and his ultimate rise as he embarks on a quest for survival.
