One constantly sees the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy banner introducing new and innovative ideas to Pakistan and this announcement is no different. The Academy award winning director is launching a new platform, called SOC Outreach that aims to encourage debate and discussions in schools and colleges. The platform will also be focusing on engaging the community at large.
SOC Films has already been involved in similar commitments. The team has worked with young, aspiring students across Pakistan through several projects and has conducted more than 300 film screenings of Chinoy’s documentaries and animated films.
With the new outreach program, the SOC team will widen their engagement with students. Their mobile cinema initiative, Dekh Magar Pyaar Se, will travel across Pakistan to provide entertainment to the marginalized communities by introducing them to films, music and animation.
Another branch of the team will work with students in low-income schools in order to educate them about technology and virtual reality by conducting workshops with a vision and commitment to continue to mentor young filmmakers in Pakistan.
