We saw Bollywood beauties taking up the challenge by making superb style statements on the red carpet of the 70th Cannes Film Festival. Others use the occasion to promote their upcoming films.
Rihanna doesn’t need to do anything to be noticed obviously. Her style statements are always spot on and she’s always surrounded by the hottest stars, models and designers. This year, she co-hosted Chopard’s fabulous Space Party but sources say that even though she hosted the event, she had declined the opportunity to perform there and opted to have Bruno Mars steal the spotlight instead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rihanna chose not to perform for a strategic reason. Turns out, the singer wanted to use the opportunity to establish herself as an actress in front of the filming community in Cannes. While Rihanna did not have any films in the Cannes lineup, she does have a few cinematic outings in the pipeline (Ocean’s 8, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets).
She was also seen rubbing shoulders with Scott Stuber, head of films at Netflix. And why wouldn’t she be, news has it that Rihanna will be co-starring with Lupita Nyong’o for a Netflix project to be directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Issa Rae based on a viral tweet.
